Random thoughts and rants...
Superbowl XLVI
Published on February 2, 2012 By Neilo In Everything Else

Neither looked great in the conference finals, both doing just enough to get the W, so how will each team fair, and who will win the battle at QB?
The stats suggest a win by New England, and i tend to agree. Brady has played better than Manning all season and the Pats as a whole have looked more impressive over the regular season than the Giants did.

So, what say you???

So the Patriots awful, statistically worst in the NFL, defense is suddenly not mediocre?
Uh. Statistically the Patriots defense was 31st, not 32nd. By the same statistics the Giants were 27th in the league, hardly that much of a difference from 31st and if you go by points allowed the Giants are 25th compared to the Patriots 15th, and now suddenly the Giants are the reincarnation of the steel curtain? Hardly.

As opposed to the Giants, who trounced two of the best offenses in the NFL
Uh ... Green Bay was the 3rd ranked offense and Atlanta was the 10th. While Green Bay was decent, Atlanta hardly counts as one "of the best offenses in the NFL".

and then won a defensive struggle with the best overall defense in the NFL.
Again they got lucky with two muffed punts or they wouldn't even be there. Also San Francisco was the 4th ranked defense not the 1st. And while the Ravens offense did not set the league on fire they did have the 15th best offense compared to San Francisco's 26th ranked offense while the Ravens had the 3rd ranked defense versus San Francisco's 4th ranked defense. If you insist on going by rankings then the Ravens are clearly a better team than San Francisco.

You need to get your facts straight. Go to http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/total/position/defense/seasontype/2 to see 2011 total defense rankings. Click on PTS to see the rankings based on points allowed and then click on Offense to see the 2011 total offense rankings. Then note how every single ranking you mentioned was incorrect.

And speaking of arrogance how them Jets doing? I love how Rex Ryan "guaranteed" a Super bowl win. Instead he's home sucking on his wife's toes.

Well the Seahawks sucked this year so as long as the commercials are good.

Who gives a damn about the Jets?  How does mentioning them add to the discussion in the slightest?

Because as a Giants fan you simply jump on the bandwagon of whichever NY team is doing better. If the Jets were in the Giants position you'd be saying the same thing about the Jets.

And because the Jets are just as relevant to this discussion as Spygate is. Talk about sour grapes.

What? No comment about your statistical ineptitude?

You know nothing about NY sports apparently.  I despise the Jets.  I grew up a Giants fan, and have been one through good and bad. As have most Giants fans (and conversely most Jets fans are loyal Jets fans).

This conversation is clearly going nowhere.  You'd rather be petty and throw around nonsense insults than have a discussion.  I could point out the fact that you ignored most of my points as well, but why bother.  You're clearly trying to grind an ax, not have a discussion about the Superbowl.

Enjoy your ignorant blind fandom.

I'm out.

Other than the last sentence, my reply #31 responded to each and every one of your points. It was you that first decided to interject the irrelevant insult of spygate so don't talk to me about axes to grind when you clearly have axes of your own to grind while spouting incorrect and irrelevant "facts" that you base equally incorrect and irrelevant conclusions upon.

It's fine with me, be a crybaby and take your ball and go home.

If they replayed that game 10 times the Patriots win 9 of them.

You, sir, are correct.   +1k

Go Patriots!

on Feb 04, 2012

Of course, the one they actually played is the one that matters. Go Giants!

Indeed. I choose to concentrate on the wonderful gluttony and economics that occurs around SBS.

Got this infographic in the email today.... this is something!

Are we going to have another scandal with the halftime show?    They cussed.   It was sort of mumbled, but not really.   Also I think Madonna lip sync'ed at least part of it.   The sound mix was a bit too perfect.  She is singing and doing athletic dance moves--as a 53-year-old--and didn't miss a single inflection.   Cee Lo's voice sounded real, though.  You can tell the difference in the sound quality.

Better halftime show than the Black Eyed Peas, though.   Although I did like the Black Eyed Peas, and some people didn't.

Oh, and Kelly Clarkson's national anthem beat the tar out of Christina Aguilera's national anthem last year.

Don't know, Don't care. Football players use their FEET and don't wear motorbike helmets.

on Feb 05, 2012

I would grand it the PATS but the Giants are trained well..and have better defence and defence mostly decides the game

on Feb 05, 2012

The halftime show sucked. Whatever happened to good old rock 'n' roll? Can't stand today's crap they call music.

on Feb 05, 2012

3rd quarter ...... Pats 17 Giants 15.
