As someone who has slowly worked up to Painful, I appreciate hearing that it isn't all that bad to be here and I don't have feel a need to push to reach higher and higher levels.  It is a satisfying contest and I don't play for score.

Happiness!

It's good to see you in the Tyranny thread, erischild.

Yeah, we played for score and came up with some "outside the box" methods.  It was pretty fun for a while.  Over time, score took too prominent of a place.  When we backed away from scoremongering, it became fun again.

We'll probably be playing some co-op games in GalCiv3.  Time to kick some alien butt.

In the past, I had settled on crippling as my standard fun game.

Just played one and found it much more difficult than I remember.

hehe, thats ok, i played a quick game a while ago on challenging, and got my ass kicked!! If you havent dusted off the game for a while, it can take a bit to get back into the swing of it!

I'm right there with you on that, but you're ahead of me so far.  I'm only back up to Painful now and have no idea where I'll end up.  I'd bet Suicidal will be too much though.

I'm on my 3rd game since firing up TotA and a lot of it's coming back.

Yeah.  Playing on lower difficulty levels is helping. That economy can be a fickle beast. You're bouncing around the -500 level and a few weeks later, you're suddenly in the green.

I haven't figured the math out yet.  On my current game (Painful) I wasn't even listed in the top 15 races for quite a while.  Even the minors were more powerful then me.  A year later and my area of influence is second only to the Thalan. The root cause was the economy.

Tried out a Metaverse game on Crippling.  I didn't build a military until the Yor attacked.  Seeing "Defeat" on the first fleet battle was pretty funny.  I hadn't seen that screen for a long time.  I thought my first fighters looked pretty good.  Not good enough though.

It was the only war I fought.  I got alliances with the other races and the Yor surrendered to the Thalan.

The game wouldn't post to the Metaverse until I made IE my default browser.

Im going to have play a few game i think....

Just finished watching Jimmie Johnson take title #6, so might just celebrate that for a while and think about starting a game...

Have fun with it, Neilo.

I'm doing a game on the next difficulty up from crippling.  I forget what it said, but it might be painful.

It's been at the stage where I could just get alliances with the remaining AIs, but I'm trying to reach a military victory.  I have to buy 4 huge ships each turn to avoid the economic penalty and my military is growing beyond usefulness.  I'll try to stick it out for the military victory.  No promises.

For those who might be visiting and don't know, 3vilTwin1 is my Steam account that has TotA and Demigod.

Yeah, it was pretty fun while it lasted.  I especially liked the tournament games.

Here's my latest from TotA.  I finally got through the military victory conditions.

Well, that was going to be my last game for a while.  But then my wife kinda goaded me into upping the difficulty to suicidal.  So now there's a new game in progress.

I really like the unique tech trees.

I'm usually top dog on tech, but that's not easy to do on suicidal.  The Torians are on top of everything by a wide margin and I've been buying trade goods from them.

I've been threatened several times by the evil races, so I've had to buy fighters to have some semblance of a military.  It's typical for me to buy fighters, but there hasn't been such an urgency to do it until this game.

I think I can turn this one around for a win though.  The humans are pretty overpowered when it comes to diplo.

I guess the chores can wait.

I've still hardly explored the unique tech trees, since mush of my gaming was on DA and i used TA for mods, hence my own custom tech trees.
I'm really into Anno 2070 again atm, but i am keen on playing dom TA with either the Torians or the Yor, my two favorite races.

Is ANNO one of those Facebook games?  Mafia Wars was my last Facebook game, but there was another MMO I remember getting into once upon a time. That's right, Evony.  We played it as a team and the bots finally got us.  I felt like setting up bots was giving too much of my life away to a game.  We did pretty well against them for a while though.

I liked the Yor in DA.  In TotA on suicidal, the Torians are incredibly powerful.  That super breeder ability is something to contend with.  I didn't have so much of a problem with them on lower levels, but they're in every corner of the map now and my relationship with them is hostile.  At least I'm neutral or better with everyone else.

It's a struggle to keep up with them and the prospect of overtaking them seems pretty far off.  Even though their military strength is better than the rest of us combined, I can't get them to go to war with anyone.  Nobody will go to war with them either.  I'll get there though.  It's only a matter of time.

If a human played Torian on this level, they'd be unstoppable.  The AI makes some serious mistakes that a human wouldn't do even on a bad day.

UGH...NO! lol

It is made by the same team who did the Settlers (if you know that game)...check out the link..

Evony was actually great fun, and i miss the teamwork we had in that game. For such a small playing crew we really threw a spanner in the works of that server, even to the point of being drafted into the biggest empire! That was great fun!
I actually was only thinking the other day about out massive co-ordinated attack on the SMASH empire! Remember that!?

You're it very hard for me to not play some GC2 Motti!!! LOL I reinstalled Demigod too, so if you feel like an old fashion AI stomp one day we can fire up skype and have a blast!

Evony.....what a waste of time and money, but it was a great ride!

Anno looks pretty nice.  15 bucks for the whole banana is pretty good too.

Are the Demigod servers still up?  I haven't played that since forever.  I'm not even sure if my skype package works anymore.

On the GalCiv2 font, I'm not able to play for too long at a stretch.  Too many things to do.  I did, however, manage to piss the Torians off even more somehow.  They wanted me to move ships out of their territory.  Those ships are parked around my planets.  I bought a lot of ships from everyone and don't have enough planets to put them all in orbit, so I have a lot of them in fleets close to my planets.

Most of the map is Torian green though.  They just wiped the Altarians out with their influence.  My little blue spots look like infections on a big green organism.  That's probably how they view me.

I've risen up to take the #2 spot on the civ rankings, though.  Part of that is due to my gaining strength, but a lot is from the others being weakened by the Torians.  Their reach is across the board.  I've built 10 warships of my own now, but they're parked under a Spin Control Center.  I'll probably use them against one of the weakened AIs when I get enough cash to go hunting.  I could sure use some of those mining starbases of theirs.

Yeah its a nice game man...very nice to look at too, the graphics are great.
Not sure about the demigod servers, ill check it out.
gotta love torian domination!!!

Interesting to see suicidal games be played out with none of our old tactics...i did a few, they are far from easy...
