I do think i recall though Purges high score being about 850K, though i don't recall if that was DA or DL.
Yeah that was a DA game. 508K was his best in DL v1.4x which as far as I can tell was the 2nd highest DL v1.4x game ever played after my 1.09M.

But if your point was to compare "straight up suicidal games" the best representative of that would be anything from Mag or Syrrus K in DL v1.31 or DL v1.4x.

Very impressive games, considering they are DL!

Holy Crap, people are actually posting in this thread? And playing GC2!?!

How's it goin', all?

on Feb 28, 2012

Hey Random!!!! Another Vet back for a twirl!!!
Things are good mate, as i hope they are with you!

Yeah, playing GC2 again, though for the pure fun of it these days. Trying odd game setups and playing with no cheese.

In fact i should be well into a new TA game, but Impulse, in all it's divine wisdom has seen fit to tell me my TA is not registered and therefore cannot play on the MV.

It's a real PITA, having to have to deal with two different company's for support and neither knows what the other one is doing, or telling me.

I cannot wait for Stardock to launch the new SDC so i can dump Impulse.....

Hey All. Good to see some old faces in here.

on Feb 28, 2012

Coming out of the woodwork now!! Great to see you again Captian!! Hows things?

Been some time since we were active, wonder if we can get the ball rolling again!!!

on Feb 28, 2012

1.  More/better fix to make sure all HKCU settings keys are set properly from registration:

Start / Run / regedit.exe (will request elevation) Delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Settings

Erase C:\ProgramData\Stardock\GC2UL\sig.bin (will request elevation) May need to remove the sig.bin from ProgramData\Stardock\Twilight instead.

Run the GalCiv2\Twilight\GC2TwilightoftheArnor.exe and enter your Stardock account information and serial when prompted.

This will update the registry keys in HKCU that you just removed as well to cache the user credentials the Metaverse login is expecting.

@ Neilo, I had the same problem after that ground breaking patch v2.04. Here is the link to help you out (Reply #50). Best of luck!

You have my vote on getting the ball rolling and I would like to see that happen! Just make sure you all drop a comment or two in our thread too.

We are looking for players to join to become aggressive Admirals to lead your fleets across the Galaxy!

Thanks Mina!!! I'll let support handle it for now, but if they keep dropping the ball i'll do this!

As for getting the ball rolling, i was daydreaming the other day and thought it might be interesting to see if we can get one character from every active MV player into one empire. We could create a new empire just for these active characters, i don't think all of us, and by that i mean all the active peeps from Sororitas/Kzin/Tyranny...etc, etc..have ever all been in one empire together.

No need for secrets or scoremongering, just people playing for fun, like the old days?????

Hey Neilo, Snark, Sole, Mumble, Capt and Mina!

It's good to see everyone gathering around again.  I doubt a full on revival is in the making, but maybe the game has a little life left in it.

I've started a new vanilla game playing the Iconians.  It's a balanced game, so no "all x" strategies are in play.  No extreme diplo, no ARC or anything like that.  Being the Iconians, I'm not going to limit my military, but the limitations seem to be built in anyway.  I have a single fighter that I traded for and no tech to speak of.  I've been threatened twice, but refused to give any handouts to the extortionists.  It's Dec year 0 and my empire is in dead last place.

My ability to colonize is limited to slow colonizers that I'm building on my homeworld.  I haven't built another starport yet due to economics.  I'm sure things will turn around before long.  At least my economy is balanced and staying above the -500 mark.

For some odd reason, that seems to excite me! Like the calm before the storm, or Ali in round 7 before unleashing hell!!
LOL

I finally have my TA reg sorted out and can play MV! I'll be starting a new game this week, i'll list it breifly here but i go into detail in the game discussion thread.

Good to see some activity, hope to see some more!

@Motti

Being threatened is always a good sign!

@Neilo

Would you care to run it on Very Slow tech for me?

It looks like I should have my desktop up and running again inside two weeks, so I'll probably hold off on starting anything until then.  But I'm taking recommendations on tech speed for my next few games in the pipeline-especially that one where I can't research, that's going to be loads of fun!

Not this one, since i want to try this game as a type of continuous game (i expect and hope for a game length of about 20 years), but the terran diplo game i will though.

Being threatened is always a good sign!

It can be.  The same AI's keep trying to extort money and send threats, but they appear to be empty ones.  I built my two huge fighters and fleeted them with huge empty hulls (with engines, ofc).  I went looking for a fight, but the ones with the biggest mouths didn't declare.  I went with attacking the closest enemy, the Torians.

On paper, they should be wiping the floor with my limp and dying body.  In reality, I have their ass and am packaging it up for return delivery.  I've lost a total of one planet and have gained 7 so far.  My main limitation is distance to target with my slow transports.  I need more tech in pretty much everything, but the Torians have been kind enough to leave some behind at every planet I've taken.

Their fighters in route have taken several of my fully loaded transports down before they could strike.  If I had better sensor tech, I'd be able to see them before choosing my path.  Those are the breaks.

My empty hulls aren't gaining as much experience as they did in my other game, but that makes sense.  The fighters I'm up against are considerably weaker.  I also don't have the engine and miniaturization tech move around very well.  Those things will change as time goes on.

The AI have been taking the minors out for some weeks and I haven't even met them all.  Hopefully, they'll leave some for me.

Year 2 will be closing soon and I'm still in last place in everything except economy and population.  I'm not first in any stat, but I'll be climbing the ladder as I take more planets.

My focus for now is to get my empty hulls leveled up so they can be upgraded to fighters.  Gaining planets and tech along the way is a nice bonus.

Like the calm before the storm, or Ali in round 7 before unleashing hell!!

LOL.  In my case, it's more like Raj and Howard circling each other in the Big Bang Theory, talking the big talk, but never landing a punch.  I finally pulled the trigger toward the latter part of year 2 and even then, it wasn't exactly spectacular.

It's more realistic than an all out slugfest though, and in many ways, more fun.  The AI have somewhat of a chance to do some damage even if the final outcome can be pretty much taken for granted.

This is likely going to be a long game.

Are you wearing tights as you play!?!
